Biological activities of olive oil polyphenols

Biological activities of olive oil polyphenols

One of the objectives of the ARISTOIL Transnational Mediterranean Project is to inform consumers about the beneficial properties of a “good” olive oil.

In the issue that you can download from here, an attempt was made by the three Pharmaceutical Schools participating as partners in the ARISTOIL program to record the published studies in valid scientific journals on the actions of the phenols found in olive oil so that the consumer can understand that a “good” olive oil, rich in these phenols, contributes to the health protection of our organism.

Olive oil, if rich in phenols, is a functional food that provides us with protection. Discover the olive oil with the corresponding information. According to Regulation 432/2012 of the European Union, the daily consumption of 20 gr. from olive oil that has at least 5mg tyrosol derivatives and hydroxytyrosol per 20g or 250mg per kg is sufficient to protect against blood lipid oxidation and this olive oil may be called HEALTH CLAIM.
